VLC definitively needs a "simple" preferences window. Here is a list of some of the settings which would be needed:

    • Use S/PDIF when available
    • Force detection of Dolby surround
      • Filters
        • Equalizer
        • Headphone effect
        • Volume normalizer
        • Parmetric equalizer
