Just follow these simple steps to adjust hardware acceleration settings. This is a simpler guide for the page VLC GPU Decoding.

From the menu toolbar select ToolsPreferencesInput & CodecsCodecsHardware-accelerated decoding. To disable, select Disable. To re-enable, select Automatic (unless a particular hardware acceleration method is desired).

Remember to press Save to save VLC settings and restart VLC after that to make sure changes are enabled.
