This page describes how to disable video acceleration on Win32. Other "how to" pages
  • Load VLC
  • Click Settings
  • Click Preferences
  • Click Video
  • untick "Overlay video output"
  • Save
  • Close VLC completely
  • Re-open VLC

Video acceleration should now be disabled.
