Software
Software distributed by VideoLAN is usually licensed under the GNU Public License (GPL) version 2 or later, with some exceptions:
- For example, the MPEG codec falls under proprietary licensing terms
- Third-party extensions that are supplemental to the VideoLAN software may have their own licenses
A small file called COPYING.txt comes bundled with every copy of VideoLAN software and describes copyright terms.
