My 5.1 only plays as Stereo
Is your connection S/PDIF (Coaxial, IEC 60958) ?
VLC can only play 5.1 AC3 content over S/PDIF when using passthrough configuration.
If you want to output 5.1 or 7.1, you need to use an HDMI connection.
