Copy prevention (sometimes known as copy protection) is a technical measure designed to make copying media more difficult, usually by causing errors in what are assumed to be unauthorised copies.

Copy prevention for DVDs is called Content-Scrambling System (CSS). VLC can play such DVDs with libdvdcss.
