Hi,
:I am a new user of vls, i want to know :
:Except the telnet,if there have another method to control the vls ??
:--Fishinlove

Hello,
:You'd probably be better off asking this in the forum - http://forum.videolan.org - and not here.
:VLS doesn't have a graphical interface - I think telnet and specifying opeions on the command line are the only ways to control it - http://www.videolan.org/doc has some details.
:In most cases you'd be better off using vlc.
:One thing that works in vlc, and probably also in vls (but I'm not sure) is to run
vls -l
:which lists all modules (encoders, muxers, decoders and interfaces). Other interfaces you can use will be listed.

T-Shirt Design Contest

2006-01-18T00:19:05Z

Luckyboyzz:

What we want
The T-Shirt is supposed to show support to the VideoLAN project. It would be nice if people seeing the T-Shirt could guess that its about some video player/server related project (and maybe even put the videolan.org url somewhere).

For price reasons, the number of colors on the T-shirt will likely be limited to 3. (that makes it about 7 euros production cost per T-Shirt if we order 100)

The VideoLAN graphics you might want to use are :

The VLC cone : http://www.videolan.org/images/cone-soppera10.png
The VideoLAN logo : http://www.videolan.org/images/vl4_251x188.jpg

More VideoLAN graphics can be downloaded here : http://www.videolan.org/goodies.html .

VLS

2006-01-18T00:19:03Z

Luckyboyzz:

VLS (aka VideoLAN Server) is an outdated streaming solution. More information is available on http://www.videolan.org/streaming .

Unless you really know what you are doing, we advise that you use VLC instead as it is far more powerfull than VLS.

Known problems
VLS isn't compatible with GCC 4. You will thus need to use GCC 2.9, 3.3 or 3.4 to compile, or submit a patch to fix compilation problems on GCC 4.

WxWidgets Interface

2006-01-18T00:18:39Z

Luckyboyzz:

WxWidgets is the default, plain, interface to VLC, made using the WxWidgets library (linux users may need to have this installed). It is used as the default interface on the Windows and Linux versions of VLC.

To start with WxWidgets, run vlc with -I wx. If WxWidgets is not avaliable, it will proably revert to using the rc interface.
