There appears to be a good chance that if you follow these instructions you will not be able to easily run your compiled program. The easy fix is to delete (or rename) vlc.exe.manifest and then you should be able to run your compiled code.

Any chance we can get this added to the instructions?
What is the relation with these two? I believe ffmpeg has an mpeg2dec so why two mpeg 2 decoders? Thanks, [[User:Daniel.Cardenas|Daniel.Cardenas]] 01:51, 22 April 2007 (CEST)

The main page is very busy. Intimidating for the early contributor. I suggest having a newbie page as an early link or making the main page less busy. For example you can get rid of or move done the talk about deprecated projects.
Also the page is very similar to the main wiki intro page. One might get confused which one they are on.
== Streaming Profiles ==

The idea is to make streaming very easy, and yet powerful by using parametrable profiles. These could be used either by the graphical interfaces or through HTTP/command line interfaces. This section will document the design as it progresses.

The various steps in the process will be:
- Identification of the feature set
- Transforming the features into requirements
- Developing the Analysis Model
- Developing the Design Model

The Feature-based Object-Orieted Methodology (FOOM) [http://www.tierney.ca/patrick/thesis/FOOM_Thesis_PTierney.pdf], an extension of the Unified Software Process will be followed.

== Ticket #156 (closed defect: fixed) Is restarting VLC the fix ==

Is this fixed or is restarting VLC the fix? I am sending HD streams and after about 1 hour to 2 hours the CPU begins to spike at specific intervals corrupting the multicast stream that I am sending. I have to stop and restart VLC 0.8.5 to recover.

"VLC on VTHR leaks memory (see videolan@vthr:prod/vlc.sh) while doing intensive TS/UDP multicast streaming input/output.
A restart is needed after some time. "
